Medals and trophies were awarded to students at the KSTSK Royston, Melbourn and Bassingbourn Karate Clubs in a popular tournament.

The event, organised by the Kamaete Schools of Traditional Shotokan Karate (KSTSK) was held at Wodson Park Sports Centre in Ware and 15 clubs from acorss Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire competed.

Chief instructor, and seventh Dan, Peter Khera, said: "Families and friends came together to support the competitors, creating a vibrant and supportive atmosphere for the competitors, ranging from young novices to seasoned black belts.

"They all demonstrated incredible dedication and their commitment to rigorous training, and the perseverance in the face of challenging opponents was inspiring to all in attendance.

"Each bout was a testament to the hard work and determination that defines karate practitioners.

"But beyond the physical content, the mutual respect and sportsmanship exhibited by students was the true highlight of the day."

Shotokan karate is renowned for its emphasis on kata (forms) kihon (basics) and kumite (sparring).

To encourage junior participation, every child received a competitors medal.

Gold medals and trophies went to Rico Surridge, Chris Alliott, Andy Flint, Tom Vaughan, Tom Flint, Leo Wheeler-Kingshott, Ruvan Kanagarathnam, Benji Andrews,Maria Twydell, Alex Florea, Amrit Niwan and Mia Bell.

Silver Medals and trophies went to Vicky Thompson, Chris Alliott, Andy Flint, Leon Sultana, Muhilan Kanagarathnam, Adhiren Kanagarathnam, Ruvan Kanagarathnam and Henry Ali

And finally there were bronze Medals and trophies for Rico Surridge, Andy Flint, Tom Vaughan, Tommy Daines, Leon Sultana, Bethany Thompson, Claire Carnevalli-Ruhf, Benji Andrews, Maria Twydell, Amy Florea, Lawrence Chung-Goodridge and Alex Oddy.
