It was a very mixed weekend for the two senior sides at Royston Town Football Club.
The men lost away to Leamington on Saturday, Kian Harness scoring a consolation on 77 minutes in the Southern League Premier Division Central.
One day later though, there was a memorable success in the Eastern Region Women's Premier Division as the Crows romped to a 7-2 success at Garden Walk.
It took 16 minutes for the home side to get their noses in front, Poppy Smith finishing at the second attempt after her first effort was saved.
One minute later it was 2-0 as Jordanne Sillitoe’s cross sailed past goalkeeper Emily Kemp and into the net off a City defender.
Number three arrived on the half-hour, Annie Georgiou scoring direct from a corner but at this point Royston had their worst spell of the game, conceding to Kiera Ward and Lucy Ford in the 15 minutes before half-time.
The break allowed them the chance to reset though and what followed was near total domination by the hosts.
Recent signing Lily Hall made it 4-2 and three minutes later a handball presented them with a penalty, Charlotte Smith scoring despite the Saints keeper going the right way.
Amy Josland then chipped in with the sixth and the rout was completed through Emma Slater, the last two goals both assisted by Emily Smith.
Royston are still third despite the big win but are now level on points with second-place Haringey Borough, the pair 10 points adrift of leaders Real Bedford.
The ladies now take a break from league action but not a Hertfordshire scrap as they are back at home against Harpenden Town in the semi-final of the Women's Senior Challenge Cup.
Kick off is at 2pm.
