Royston Town extended their unbeaten home run to 12 but while assistant manager Chris Watters was happy with the result against Alvechurch, there was aspects of the performance that disappointed him.
Matt Bateman got the only goal in a 1-0 win as the Crows climbed to eighth in the Southern League Premier Division Central table.
But Steve Castle's number two felt the performance with the ball wasn't up to the standards they have set themselves over recent months at Garden Walk.
Speaking to the club's social media channels, Watters said: "I’m happy with the performance defensively and its three points, what we set out to do at 3 o'clock.
"But the manner in which we’ve done, we’ll play better and lose.
"We were excellent last week [against Hednesford] but we’ve struggled with the ball here. Their press was fantastic and their shape caused problems.
"We said at half-time that we needed to match their intensity and we defended well in the second half.
"We have an honest group and you have to take the encouragement that they haven’t died.
"Matt Bateman said that before Christmas we would have lost that game and that shows the character.
"The run we have gone on at home is important to the group and at the end of the season, nobody will remember this performance, just where we finish in the table."
