The Indian community of Royston gathered to celebrate Diwali with dance, music and food.

The celebration of the Hindu festival of lights was held at St Mary's Church hall on Saturday, November 16.

Royston Town Council sponsored the event, which was attended by Mayor of Royston Cllr John Rees and other councillors.

Organiser Cllr Mary Antony said: "Celebrating Diwali brought together the community of Royston who thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated the event.

"As many businesses supported us we encourage everyone to support the local businesses as it is vital for our community."

"We thoroughly enjoyed the food, classical dance, Bollywood performances by kids and the fellowship of the Indian community

"All those attending the event brought non perishable food items for our local food bank in Royston. This way we give back to the community for friendly coexistence."
