Bassingbourn Village College has welcomed Ian Stoneham as its new principal for the 2024/2025 academic year.
He is taking over the role from the previous principal, Vickey Poulter, who stepped down from the role last August.
Ian, who holds a masters in leadership and National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH), joins Bassingbourn Village College after a tenure as vice principal at Joyce Frankland in Newport.
Both schools are part of multi-academy trust Anglian Learning.
On his appointment, Ian said: "I am thrilled to have been given this opportunity by Anglian Learning to lead Bassingbourn Village College in its vision to nurture individuals to have high aspirations, a love of learning and to become responsible, respectful and resilient members of society.
"The school, which celebrates its 70th anniversary this year, already provides an enriching educational experience for pupils.
"Working in partnership with colleagues, the local community and with support from Anglian Learning, I intend to build on the college’s successes and further enhance pupils' sense of belonging to the school."
Ian studied history and politics at Durham University before joining the Teach First programme, where he worked as a history teacher in East London.
His career then took him to Joyce Frankland Academy in Newport, where he started as assistant principal before taking on the role of vice principal.

Bassingbourn Village College caters to pupils age 11 to 16, and is one of 16 schools in the Anglian Learning multi-academy trust.
