Reform UK has announced their candidate for the Royston Palace by-election, running to fill the seat vacated by North East Herts MP Chris Hinchliff.
Long-standing Royston businessman John Froggett, who runs The Accountancy Practice, will stand in the election on Thursday, October 17.
John said: "Reform UK local authority representatives are not whipped by the party
but are free to vote in the best interests of the communities they serve.
"Never one to shy away from a challenge, my aim is to create an environment where your views are heard and, more importantly, actioned, with clear and concise communication being key.
"As my practice is within Royston town centre, I have a vested interest in our community.
"You will see me most days going about my daily business or people stopping me for a catch up, whether it be for some work advice or just general chatter, to organising the bi-weekly local singing group Singing for Fun; my personable nature makes me very approachable.
"I care about our town and have gained a great understanding of what our town needs and also what they will come to expect from a district councillor."
Speaking about his plans for the town, John said: "It’s important to state that am very much aware that there are opportunities to improve many areas within the town and my focus is to build upon our great community, by listening to your concerns and driving forward positive change working together.
"My term will be conducted following the principles of honesty, transparency and
integrity to support our families and to serve the community as it so deserves."

Chris Hinchliff resigned as a district councillor for North Herts Council after being elected Labour MP for North East Herts in the general election.
He said he was "incredibly proud" to be elected as MP, and stepped down from the council so he could "fully commit" to representing the constituency in Parliament.
Mr Hinchliff has endorsed Labour's Sarah Lucas as his potential successor.
