The Rotary Club of Royston are holding a collection for Addenbrooke's Charitable Trust following the cancellation of this year's kite festival.
The festival - which is held on Therfield Heath - was due to take place on August 4, but was unable to go ahead after Natural England raised concerns about the event being held on a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
Organisers applied for planning permission, but while awaiting the Planning Inspectorate's decision reached a point where they would incur too many costs if permission was denied, so were forced to cancel the event.
At this year's kite festival organisers hoped to raise £10,000 for Addenbrooke's, so will instead hold a collection for the hospital at Royston Tesco on Saturday, September 28.

Rotary Club president David Pinner said: "The kite festival has been a hugely popular family event and it has helped us to contribute many thousands of pounds to local charities over decades.
"We are very sorry to see it cancelled this year. However, the Tesco collection gives us and the people of Royston the opportunity to give generously to a very important cause. See you there!"
Natural England has promised to have further discussion to find a "pragmatic way forward".
