Students at King James Academy in Royston are celebrating "fantastic" GCSE results this morning.
There are many successes in every subject, with 20 per cent of the cohort achieving at least one grade 8 or 9.
Some students achieved a number of grade 9s at GCSE (achieved by the top 4 per cent of candidates in the country), and many achieved outstanding grades in their set of results:
● Perdy Brooks, two grade 9s, level 2 distinction star, two grade 8s
● Monica Grove, two grade 9s, three grade 8s
● Rosie Iontton, four grade 8s, level 2 distinction
● Brayden Letter, two grade 9s, four grade 8s
● Poppy McLeod, one grade 9, level 2 distinction star, four grade 8s
● Kieran Palmer, six grade 8s, level 2 distinction star
● Freddie Rouse, three grade 9s, two level 2 distinction stars, two grade 8s
● Sujeevan Sathees, five grade 9s, two grade 8s.
Special mention is also given to Iryna Shevchuk, who came from Ukraine two years ago with limited English.
She leaves King James with 9 good GCSEs, all 7-4 grades, and will now go on to study her A-levels.
Headteacher Lisa Plowman said: "Once again, our students have done themselves, their community and our school proud.
"These results are a culmination of years of hard work, and high quality teaching. It would be remiss not to mention the resilience of this cohort of young people who were impacted by the mid-year move following the amalgamation of the three former schools, the pandemic, and more recently the disruption caused by the loss of the secondary site roof!
"I would like to recognise the outstanding work of our teachers and support staff for all their efforts in delivering a high quality education.
"I am immensely proud to be the headteacher of King James Academy, and these results reflect our character values of resilience, respect, aspiration and challenge.
"I would like to wish all of our leavers the very best for their next steps and look forward to hearing of their future successes."
