House sale transactions in Royston take an average of 157 days to complete, according to data collated since the beginning of the pandemic.
A speed of sale tool, created by house buying firm Property Solvers, revealed that selling a property in the Royston (SG8) postcode takes 22.4 weeks on average.
The dataset, which is updated monthly, analysed 49 property sales across the region between February 2023 and February 2024.
The statistics track the moment a property is listed on Rightmove, the UK's largest property portal, to the point it is marked as officially 'sold' at the HM Land Registry.

This showed that in the SG8 postcode, out of the 49 tracked properties in the 12 months up to February this year, home sellers were waiting an average of 157 days from listing to completion.
Ruban Selvanayagam, co-founder of Property Solvers, commented: "Whilst we’re starting to see some noticeable improvements into 2024, the continued pressures on the mortgage sector and buyers' ability to secure the right kind of finance has resulted in delays with sales completing.
"Combined with the recognised ‘snail pace’ nature of the conveyancing process, it’s likely that these trends are likely to remain for some time."
