Hertfordshire weather: Met Office yellow warning for rain

The forecaster also said there could be disruption or cancellations to bus and train services with the alert covering the east of England from 5am to 5pm.

Commuters have been advised that spray and flooding could reduce driving conditions and put some roads at risk of closure.

The county faces heavy rain throughout the day with some communities are at risk of being cut off by flooded roads.

A message on the website also said: "There is a slight chance of power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses."

Drivers are advised to leave with extra time or avoid starting their journey until heavy downpours clear.

They should also take extra care when driving as road will be more slippery than usual and visibility may be reduced by spray, the Met Office added.

Residents whose property is at risk of flooding should prepare a plan to protect their home and emergency kit.

The Met Office advises affected residents to turn off gas water and electricity supplies, as well as storing valuables up high, such as electrical devices, important documents and furniture.
