The cabinet at South Cambridgeshire District Council has met to discuss their plans for the year ahead - including the council's first public-facing use of AI.
Cabinet members met on Tuesday, February 6 to discuss the draft budget and business plan for the upcoming 12 months.
A budget of £519,000 is being proposed as part of the council's continued digital transformation work - which aims to make services more accessible to residents in a way that works for them.
If the proposals are approved, customers who call the council outside of normal office hours will be able to have their question answered by AI, which will also be able to text them further information.

The use of AI is expected to go live at the council by the end of the next financial year.
Council leader Cllr Bridget Smith said: "At the forefront of our plans is making it even more convenient and efficient for residents to interact with us and in turn for us to do our very best to support them."
Also among the plans for next year, the council intends to use its upcoming private sector housing stock condition survey to identify any privately rented properties that are below standard.
