Dear Royston Town Residents, family, friends, and our local communities in the surrounding villages.
Wishing you seasonal happiness and joyful festivities as we go into this Christmas period. I would like to take a moment to think about being together and sharing memories from this past year, as we go forward to the New Year ahead.
My thoughts are with all the families that are missing someone close, as I do. Christmas can be very emotional but also a happy time that brings us together.
Keeping our faith, believing in being kind and giving our time is the most important gift we can give each other at Christmas and all year round.
Becoming Mayor of Royston has really opened my eyes to how much goes on in our town. It’s been non-stop but an absolutely fantastic year.
I have had the pleasure of meeting dignitaries, local businesses owners, and many many locals. Everyone has made me feel so welcome, I feel honoured to represent Royston Town.
My role as Mayor has allowed me to become more actively involved in the community and I have enjoyed taking my time to speak to everyone that I have met on my journey so far.
Our beautiful town of Royston is steeped with history and many hidden treasures. The Royston Cave with its candlelight tour at this time of year makes it even more magical and I can only imagine Christmases past when King James I lived here.
It amazes me to this day of all the places he chose was our Royston in Hertfordshire.
I want to take this opportunity to give thanks to our local firefighters, police officers, paramedics and other keyworkers who keep our town safe and secure.
We are lucky to have an array of community groups and charities, many lovely churches, sports clubs, societies and organisations and I thank them for continuing to work so hard within our community to make a difference.
I would also like to give special mention to our local schools and especially my chosen charity for this year, Pathways to Learning, which supports young children with extra tuition where needed.
After a very exciting Christmas light switch on, and seeing all the Christmas themed shop windows in town, I'm especially looking forward to this year's Christmas Market and a special Mayor’s Charity Event at the Town Hall both taking place on Saturday, December 16. We hope to make this a festive season to remember.
This year has been one that won’t be forgotten. Being a true Royston woman, I will continue giving my time and energy to the place that has my heart.
I am very proud to represent you as Royston's Town Mayor. Let's all enjoy this festive time, be happy, be kind, be well, and most importantly stay safe.
I wish you all a very Happy Christmas from myself and my family.
Sending best wishes to everyone for the New Year, 2024.
Kind regards
Cllr Lisa Jayne Adams
Mayor of Royston 2023/24
