Engineering work is beginning this month to connect more than 2,500 homes in Meldreth and Harston to full-fibre broadband.
The work - which will be carried out by Gigaclear - is part of a £35 million infrastructure boost for under-served rural communities in South Cambs.
Some residents are expected to have access by the end of the year, with all the work due for completion by spring 2024.
Delivery director Tony Smith said: "There are many great benefits to living in rural communities such as Harston and Meldreth but having access to the fastest broadband speeds is not always something people expect.
"People living in towns and cities, on average, enjoy much faster speeds than people in rural locations and Ofcom says that divide is growing.

"However, Gigaclear's mission is to address this gap and bring full fibre faster speeds to residents in rural villages and towns so they’re able to work from home, stream online entertainment, scroll and gameplay just like everyone else."
During the engineering work, Gigaclear will be using exisiting Openreach ducts and poles where possible, to minimise disruption.
Elsewhere in South Cambs, Steeple Morden Village Hall also welcomed its first internet connection earlier this year, installed by County Broadband.
