The National Trust's Wimpole Estate is marking harvest season this September with the return of Harv'Fest.

Now in its second year, Harv'Fest is a celebration of all that is grown, cultivated and produced on the estate.

Every weekend in September visitors can enjoy a series of talks, tours, demonstrations and live folk music shows, along with the usual Wimpole activities.

Each weekend will focus on a different theme: produce, gardens, farming and then a final celebration.

The produce weekend on Saturday, September 2 and Sunday, September 3, centres around a traditional crafts and farmers market, held within the old stable block.

A kitchen garden stall will offer visitors a chance to buy fruit and vegetables grown by the garden team, local traders will sell their wares and musicians will perform traditional folk music.

For the second weekend - Saturday, September 9 and Sunday, September 10 - visitors are invited to learn about the historic gardens by taking part in a tour led by volunteers.

Visitors will be able to sample some of Wimpole Estate's own apple juice as part of an apple tour, and try some of the world's hottest chillies on the Wimpole Chilli Tour.

Saturday, September 16 and Sunday, September 17 centre around Wimpole Home Farm, where a team will showcase the magificent shire horses and discuss sustainable agriculture and farming practices in a series of talks.

Children can have a go at corn dolly making - weaving figures from wheat to encourage a good harvest the following year - which will take place in the great barn.

The final harvest season celebration will take place on Saturday, September 23 and Sunday, September 24.

Volunteers will lead talks on harvest-themed architectural features and paintings within Wimpole Hall, while scarecrows made by staff and community groups will be displayed outside.

Sophie Newton, senior programming and partnerships officer at Wimpole Estate, said: "Harv’Fest is a fantastic opportunity for visitors to learn more about what we mean when we talk about a working estate – a chance to meet specialist staff and volunteers in the gardens and at the farm and gain an insight into what their day-to-day work looks like."
