The thunderous roar of 2,000 motorbikes filled the air in Meldreth, as Royston and District Motorcycle Club held their 38th annual show.

Record-breaking crowds attending the event on Wednesday, June 21 at the Eternit Sports & Social Club.

A wide range of bikes were on display, from powerful racing models to street bikes, choppers, cruisers and mopeds, as well as trade stands and street food vendors.

Racing enthusiast Craig Howton showed off his Kawasaki ER6 Supertwin, which he is entering in the Isle of Man Grand Prix later this year, while John Welch showed his classic 1961 Norton ES2.

Classic cars were also on display, with Steve Prime showcasing his pristine Dodge Charger, which was originally owned by his father.

He said: "The car hasn’t been painted for 40 years and still looks as though it has just come from the show room."

Mark Coningsby, secretary of the Royston club, said: "With 36 local companies, charities, and organisations involved and 2,800 members of the public in attendance it has made this the biggest show event we have ever accomplished.

"With some donations still to come in our initial figure to donate to the East Anglian Air Ambulance, SERVE Herts and Beds, and SERVE Cambridge/Suffolk will be £15,000."
