A construction worker was injured in an incident in Royston town centre.
Police were called just after 3pm today (Thursday, February 9) to reports that a construction worker had been injured on a building site in High Street.
Officers attended the scene to assist the ambulance and Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service.
An air ambulance crew also attended, and the person was taken to hospital with injuries.
A spokesman for Hanson Services Ltd, who were working on the site, said: "We would like to thank the support from local response services to our construction site at High Street, Royston yesterday and also our own health and safety personnel for responding so professionally.
"We engaged their response as part of our health and safety procedure, as a worker suffered an injury of which at the point the severity wasn't entirely clear.
"Given the apartments that are being constructed are on the secnd floor, safe ingress and egress was paramount in the event the injuries were more critical and we were not prepared to take any risks that could further the injury.
"The worker fell from the third step of a step ladder and on landing injured his abdomen.
"He has thankfully been released from hospital with bruising."
