Death Notice

Eric Maynard Wareham

Published on 08/10/2015

Wareham Eric Maynard His family wishes to announce the death of Eric Maynard Wareham, known to most as Derrick, erstwhile, and for 45 years, of The Coach House, Kneesworth Street. He had been living comfortably at The Oaks Nursing Home in York for the last three years, close to his son and daughter-in-law, and was privileged to be in full command of his faculties right up to the point shortly before his peaceful demise. He will be greatly missed by his daughter, three granddaughters and grandson, his son and daughter-in-law, his other daughter-inlaw, his brother, his two nieces and their familes, and his brother-in-law who are his surviving relatives. To all of them, and to friends and acquaintances over the years, he was a wise and intelligent presence, who could always be relied upon for sound advice and information. He has also been personally helpful in a variety of ways to a number of people, not just his family. With his wife, Pauline, who died in 2008, he maintained a beautiful garden which was opened once a year, for many years, for a Conservative Club event. A dedicated and talented engineer, he was a Fellow of the Institute of Engineering and Technology, a member of the Worshipful Company of Scientific Instrument Makers, and a Freeman of the City of London. He was still at work into his 94th year; only forced into early retirement by loss of sight. His funeral will be at York Crematorium on Monday 12th October at 1:00pm.
